Fabulous and daring with a touch of mystique is how you feel when wearing a special hat. This workshop starts with a tutorial about fascinator styles as inspiration toward making a beautiful fascinator of your own. A Basic Black Cocktail Hat base will be embellished with your choice of silk flowers, feathers or sculptural sinamay, and crinoline. Netting and veiling around the creative design will flatter your personal features as the final touch. Basic items will be supplied, while you are free to find special decorative elements. F6: Fabulous Fascinators: A Millinery Finale
Assorted good quality silk flowers in three sizes: Small, medium and large, Novelty ‘filler’ flowers, for detail and texture, like brushes or grasses. (Shopping source Michaels, JoAnn’s or Pink Swan. www.pinkswanmillinery.com. Shop with a color scheme in mind to accent a basic black base.) If you prefer a color, purchase tulle, lace and netting to coordinate with flower selection. Tulle and lace pieces can be cut into approx. 6” wide by 1 yd. Netting or veiling pieces, 8” x 24”. Be creative with assorted beads, sequins, ribbons or decorative trim to combine if desired. Styrofoam wig head, 9” square of foam core for the base, 4 nails 1 ½” long to secure head to the square base. Glue gun and glue sticks, extension cords. Scissors, a curved sewing needle.
