New England Weavers' Seminar: Call for Proposals
The New England Weavers Seminar will hold its 2027 conference at Westfield State University from July 6 to 11, and we are now open to recruit instructors for the workshops and classes that make this event memorable for weavers in and beyond New England.
NEWS is one of the largest regional weaving events. We earn our popularity by the quality of the instruction we offer as well as the appeal and value of our juried exhibits, and the support and camaraderie of talented and enthusiastic home weavers. All NEWS Faculty members are expected to provide at least one piece of their own provenance for our Faculty exhibit — which is often the most highly rated show in the conference.
Our process is to take over a large academic building and assign one classroom to an individual teacher; the instructor will have the option of offering a combination of half- and full-day as well as multi-day sessions or a single workshop comprising the entire three days. We want to offer a wide variety of weaving instruction (and the associated arts) which will appeal to all levels of expertise. By varying our class-lengths, we hope to accommodate participants who can only take off a day or a weekend from work and family obligations.
