Housing registration is now available.  

Please read this entire page before beginning to register.

 

You need to have a website account before getting access to the registration pages. 

 

If you already have an account, enter the email and password on the screen that appears after you click on the "Register for NEWS" button or the "Member Log In" in the upper right. 

 

If you don't have an account yet, click on "Member Log In" in the upper right.  The screen will say "Sign Up".  Enter your email and a password that you create and click on "Sign Up".

Workshops requiring student or teacher preparation may close earlier than the general registration end date of July 16, 2023.  

Instructions

Sign up promptly as classes tend to fill quickly.  Our registration system accepts Visa, Mastercard, and Paypal.

 

It is highly recommended that you use the Workshops at a Glance grid to confirm that you are not selecting two workshops that overlap.  

Students in multi-day workshops must be at least 16 years old.

All shows, exhibits, evening programs, and vendors are open to the general public during the conference.  No workshop registration is required.

You can register for workshops, the tour, dormitory housing, and a daily meal plan for the dormitory cafeteria through our registration system.   

Vendors, teaching assistants, spouses, volunteers, and NEWS officers and trustees may register for housing or meals without signing up for workshops.  

Confirmation of receipt of your registration form and all other communications, including class assignments, will be sent by email.  

Changing Your Registration

Once you have completed your registration through to payment, you can contact the Webmaster/Registrar by email, using the Contact Form, to modify your workshop, tour, housing, and meal selections as desired, subject to availability, individual class restrictions, and our deadlines to provide Worcester State University with final meal and housing numbers,  Modifications may require additional payment.

Registration closes at 5:00 pm on Sunday, July 16, 2023, and no changes of any kind can be made after that date.  Some classes may allow walk-in registration at WSU starting on Thursday, July 20.

Cancellations

The Webmaster/Registrar must be notified directly by email if you wish to cancel your entire registration.  On or before May 20, 2023, there will be a charge of 10% of your registration total, not to exceed $50.  After May 20, 2023, refunds will be determined by the Executive Board based on the circumstances of the cancellation.  After July 2, 2023, no refunds will be issued for housing and meal costs.

Wait Lists

If your first choice class is full when you are registering, we recommend registering for your second choice class and then adding your name to the wait list for the preferred class, using the form on the registration page. Open slots are offered on a first come, first serve basis.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES are  you to contact an instructor for assistance getting into a class which has already filled. 

Registration Costs

Workshops are offered in half-day (3 hour) sessions.  Workshop length ranges from one to six sessions.  Each session costs the same amount, $70.  

The only exception to the per-session change for workshops is the Beginning Weaving class, which begins Thursday morning, July 20, 2023, and ends at lunchtime on Sunday, July 23, 2023. Looms will be provided and students will be able to attend all lectures, shows, and events. The Beginning Weaving class costs a flat rate of $300.  

The Thursday tour is a separate charge of $80 for the tour and $25 for the optional bus transportation. 

Dormitory housing is available from Tuesday night through Saturday night.  The cost is $45 a night.  

Campus dining hall meals are available from Wednesday breakfast through Sunday lunch.  You can purchase a full plan or just the days when you will be on campus. A commuter package of just lunches will also be available.  The cost is $31 per day, adjusted appropriately for partial days.  Advance purchase is required.  NO ON-SITE PURCHASE OF MEALS IS POSSIBLE.

On Site Registration

On-site registration begins on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at 7:30 am at Worcester State University.  You will not be able to register for workshops requiring preparation in advance, such as warping a loom.  Most of the available classes will be half-day sessions.  Only checks or cash will be accepted as payment.
