Sprang is an ancient technique resulting in very elastic cloth for bags or any type of garment. Using a pre-warped frame, participants will receive an introduction to the basic interlinking stitch and flat warp technique. Emphasis is placed on the stitch. “Irregularities” are viewed as opportunities to explore diverse stitch options. Pattern reading and pattern writing are introduced to help understand and plan. Participants will explore finishing methods to convert this piece into a small bag or hat. Time permitting, they will receive assistance in setting up a second project.
Instructor brings all materials. Participants are asked to watch the video
before coming to class. Those who watch the video ahead of time tend to get much more out of the class.
