New England Weavers' Seminar:  Things to Do in Town

Northampton is a great shopping town, full of interesting boutiques, artisan craft shops, used book stores and cafes. A walk from Smith College campus down Main St. to Pleasant St. is about 0.75 mile. Here are some highlights:

SMITH COLLEGE BOTANIC GARDEN

16 College Lane

Daily 8:30 am - 4:00 pm, suggested donation: $2

 

A living museum of plants native to New England and ecosystems around the globe, the garden encompasses a variety of specialty gardens. The landscape architecture firm of Frederick Law Olmsted of Central Park fame designed it. 

SMITH COLLEGE MUSEUM OF ART

20 Elm St.

Tue. - Sat. 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, Sun. 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Fri. 10:00 am - 8:00 pm 

Permanent collections include works of art from America, Africa, Europe, the Ancient World, and Asia including global contemporary art.
