New England Weavers' Seminar:  2023 Conference

Sun and moon beam down as guiding lights and since the invention of FIRE, light has been important to humans. We will design woven samples inspired by iconic symbols of light. The workshop will give you skills to weave lighting elements into your fabric. You will make a woven samples of several materials which can be assembled into a sculptural light/sconce. A sturdy fiber warp in cotton or linen, sett 12 epi in a twill or tabby is the working base.  Wefts will be reflective foils, plastic gimp, satin cord, wire, plastic optical fiber optics, LED string lights, and can be embellished with glass beads or crystals to enhance the scattering of illumination.  LED sources will light the pieces.
