Creating original drafts is exciting but knowing what your pattern will look like can be a challenge, and graph paper is slow and cumbersome! In this workshop participants will be introduced to the PCW Fiberworks weaving software application and explore how it can be incorporated as a tool into their everyday weaving. Participants will learn to develop drafts, add color, transform one profile draft into a multitude of patterns, and even explore more advanced techniques such as creating parallel sequences and network drafting. Students will use the most current version of PCW Fiberworks Silver. It is available for both Windows and Mac users. For participants who have not purchased the software, the demo version of the software may be used for the workshop. (Note: The demo version does not allow the ability to print, copy, or save drafts. However, it is an excellent way to determine if designing with software makes sense for you.) This workshop is a combination of presentation, discussion, and hands-on exercises.
