It’s much more than “overshot,” a mid-20th century name for the four shaft version of what earlier weavers called “flote work.” The weave structure – any weave structure requiring tabby shots – is much more than simple four-shaft work; and antique dealers and others have given fanciful names to multi-shaft float work: summer and winter, star work, Biederwand, and half-double among others.
